Hello friends! The Philippines is an amazing place! I am having such a wonderful time getting to know the people and seeing God's heart for these people!
The people here are amazing! When you smile and wave at them you can almost count on a smile back. Watching them worship is a site that brings me so much joy! They all have the heart of a servant and are constantly willing to help.
We went on a backpacking trip on Thursday and the Filipinos offered to carry our bags up the mountain for us! It was such a blessing! Afer the hike we got to go on an hour dirtbike ride. There were four people on our dirt bike! Scary! On the bike ride, we would pass little huts where people would see us and start cheering. They must have thought that we were rockstars or something. It was very funny.
When we were finished with our dirt bike ride our driver said, "Your hat from me to you?" I wasn't sure what he was saying so I just smiled and said, "yes." Apparently he was asking if he could have my hat as a gift so he took my hat and put it on. I was totally fine with it but it was pretty funny that he would ask for it. The people here aren't afraid to tell you anything.
I am learning so much on this trip! God is teaching me perserverance and patience. We went to three different villages and each time I had to be patient in order to make friends with the people there. We had an amazing hike that I had to persevere through. I ended up having a blast.
God has blessed me with the opportunity of having Elyce as my room mate while we are in Davao. It is so nice to have someone to process things with and who shares a lot of the same feelings with me! She is amazing and I love her a lot!
When we got to the city we all had to go change our American money into Fhilipino currency so we took a jeepney. There were seventeen people in the jeepney and Elyce ended up riding in my lap...It was a fun experience.
I am so glad that I am here and am having a wonderful time. Thank you all for your prayers! Have a wonderful week and I will write again soon!
